Solar Tax Credit Disclaimer

Stated Homes does not provide tax, legal, or incentive advice. No partner is authorized to represent that a Stated roof replacement qualifies for any solar tax credit or clean energy incentive.

The Formal Disclaimer

Official Position — Stated Homes
No solar company, sales representative, roofing partner, referral source, or other third party is authorized to state, imply, advertise, or represent that a Stated Homes roof replacement qualifies for any solar tax credit, residential clean energy credit, rebate, financing treatment, or incentive of any kind. This prohibition applies to verbal representations, written materials, social media, advertising, and any other communication medium. Stated Homes does not provide tax advice, legal advice, or incentive eligibility guidance. Customers and partners must consult a qualified tax professional for determinations of tax credit eligibility.

Why This Matters

The Residential Clean Energy Credit (IRS Form 5695) allows homeowners to claim a credit for solar panel systems and certain other clean energy equipment. A common misrepresentation in the solar industry is that a traditional roof replacement that accompanies or enables a solar installation qualifies for this credit.

The IRS distinguishes solar roofing tiles and solar shingles (which generate clean energy) from traditional roofing materials (shingles, underlayment, decking, flashing) that serve a structural or weatherproofing function. Traditional roofing materials — which is what Stated Homes installs — generally should not be represented as eligible for the clean energy credit.

Some customers may receive different advice from their own tax professionals. Stated Homes does not evaluate, endorse, or rely on those positions. Stated prices and contracts traditional roof replacements as traditional roofing work unless the written contract expressly states otherwise.

What Partners Are Prohibited From Saying

Prohibited Representations

No partner may say — verbally or in writing — any of the following: "Your roof qualifies for the solar tax credit." "You can get the 30% federal credit on your roof because of the solar panels." "The roof pays for itself with the tax credit." "We can structure this so your roof is part of the solar system for credit purposes." "Stated Homes has confirmed your roof qualifies." Any such representation is unauthorized, may be legally problematic, and is not binding on Stated Homes.

What Homeowners Should Do

If a solar company, real estate agent, or other party has told you that your Stated Homes roof replacement will qualify for a federal or state tax credit, you should:

Bottom Line

Stated Homes makes no tax representations. If someone told you your Stated roof qualifies for a solar credit, they told you something we didn't authorize and can't confirm. Please consult a tax professional before acting on it.
